Abstract
The article traces the development of the definition of the concept of a blog in dictionary sources and scientific discourse during 2006–2025. Based on material from the Oxford Dictionary and Merriam-Webster Dictionary, changes in the interpretation of the blog are analysed, reflecting the evolution of the phenomenon itself – from a personal online diary to a multifunctional media platform with analytical and journalistic components. Using a diachronic method, key trends are outlined: a departure from diary-like writing, the emergence of collective forms of blogging, the professionalisation of blogging, and the growth of social and communicative functions. The conclusion is made about the gradual expansion of the concept of a blog and the stabilisation of its terminological field in the 2020s.
