Abstract
This article attempts to analyse the music videos of the band Okean Elzy as a marker of the evolution of Ukrainian cultural space and the development of the music video industry. It shows that since the late 1990s, the band’s videos have transformed from simple surrealistic solutions to complex cinematic forms with deeper dramaturgy and metaphoricality. Particular attention is paid to the period after 2014, when social allusions and documentary elements reflecting social changes in Ukraine appear in the videos. The analysis continues with examples of more recent works, which demonstrate a higher level of production and a move towards the short film format. As a result, Okean Elzy’s videography appears as a reflection of the technical and aesthetic development of Ukrainian music video making and, at the same time, as evidence of the preservation of the band’s artistic identity.
